Retour Poucet au Poche
From Monday, August 24, to Saturday, September 18, 2021.
Théâtre de Poche (Bois de la Cambre - Brussels)
For a month, Poucet scattered his pebbles in the Bois de la Cambre.
Twenty-one performances, about forty cultural organizations that we thank for stepping off the beaten path to come see the show, and one thousand five hundred spectators who came to shelter at dusk to hear the truth. While Poucet has remained as lost as ever, the same cannot be said for Les Royales Marionnettes, which a big brother named "Théâtre de Poche" certainly held by the hand throughout the month.
A collaboration between the technical and administrative teams, and above all, a contract sealed with a friendly handshake.
What will also remain is the memory of a battle: convincing people that the puppet, particularly a traditional one, is merely a tool, just like a musician's instrument, a clown's nose, or an actor's mask, to create theater in all its diversity and creativity. These are the prejudices that need to change, not necessarily the tools. Yes, my dear lady, certainly, my little sir, be curious! Puppets do not just bang their heads to make children laugh, the guitarist does not necessarily play flamenco, and the clown does not fall every two minutes. So thank you to the Théâtre de Poche, an institution recognized for its contemporary and bold offerings, for taking the bet to fight this battle alongside us.
